Description Winery History
The Chateau Franc Patarabet, Cuvee Vieille Vigne is the reserve wine of the Chateau under the St Emilion Grand Cru appellation. It is made of the oldest and best vines of the estate. With its deep Bordeaux color, the 2008 vintage, Cuveee Vieille Vignes, at the Chateau Franc Patarabet has still some young highlights. Its intense fruity nose includes notes of Morello cherry as well as some vanilla aromas typical of new oak barrels. On the palate, it offers a well balanced wine with beautiful melting tannins and fruit complexity revealing of well-ripped grapes harvest. It can be enjoyed now or kept for great promise in the future.
The vines of the estate are situated right down the hill of St-Emilion, a beautiful medieval village. The soil is mostly sand and clay sand (rich in iron oxide). The vineyard is cultivated according to tradition, without herbicides or chemical fertilizers.

After the home run on the champagnes, I have decided to check on the Bordeaux that these guys at Winery to Consumer are carrying. The Franc Patarabet Vieilles Vignes 2008 did very well with a NY steak simply seasoned and grilled on the BBQ. Will do it again.

Deep color and fruity nose with some cherry notes. Nice long finish. Will keep some of the bottles for aging another 3 to 5 years.
